How to tackle home-works when there are too many
We all have come across numerous home works that we had to submit in school. Didn’t we forget it at least once to not do or submit it and gave the reason, ‘ I finished it and forgot the book on my study table’? Parents need to understand that the children find it hard at times to sit and complete the home work though they might not believe in the long-term benefits of the work they do in the school days. But it is known that the success rate and performance increases when the parents are actively involved in their kid’s educational life. We have a few strategies that can be used and this will make sure that the home work is not only completed with good work but it also reaches your teacher on the date of submission.

1. There has to be a fixed time for the home work to be done.
When there is a time that has been set aside for studying and some for playing, there will be no contradictions with their state of mind as well. They will be in control of their time and work that is expected off them. As they are well informed about their study time, they tend not to think of anything else and would be focused on their schedule of work without being distracted.
2. Distractions to be kept minimum.
Distractions being minimum will help the children to keep their focus intact. These could be TV, phone, music, food, and anything else which they are comfortable with. With things like these are cut down during the time they are studying or working on their home-work, it’ll keep them motivated and attentive, the outcome is always a better one.
3. Keep the children motivated.
The motivational factor plays an invisible role in the children’s behavior, which is vital to bring in the positive effect within them. The idea of understanding them and helping when they are having a problem with certain topics will motivate them to work on it rather than when they are shut down or told that they are not capable of doing anything. It is the family who can build the confidence in the children so that they are ready to take over any problem that comes their way.
4. Set up a place where it is workable.
A clean and well-lit place is in itself a positive motivator for anyone to work. Having the necessary stationary supplies and some water makes the place accessible. They won’t have to get up for anything else. If the child is getting bored or irritated by the place, then a change in place would be a better option keeping in mind that there is minimum or no distractions as such.

5. Appreciate the work done.
Work started is a progress regardless of the time taken to complete it. It is true that few children have trouble concentrating and paying attention to the home-work they are doing. The effort they are putting into any sort of work that has a good or positive influence on them has to be acknowledged and appreciated. This build the confidence and also increases the efficiency as they feel that they are being noticed.
If the child is having more trouble, then communicating with the teacher would be advised. As there are many home-works to be done, the teacher could give some extra care and guidance to the child so that it helps them either understand the topic or the method in which it has to be done. If it is still being heavy on the children then the teachers could come up with a timetable for the homework which doesn’t put the burden on the children and pressurizes them.
It has to be noted that not all children are the same and not all of them have the same level of cognitive ability. Home-work and studying when accompanied with regular note taking habit, organizing the study time and using it effectively then it surely can be easier than thought.
