Does the communication between parents and teachers matter?
Haven’t we all felt that parents and teachers meeting or speaking to each other would mostly be to list out all the complaints and come to a conclusion that the child can do much better if efforts are put in? The communication between the two most important sets of people in life has a certain positive effect on the child’s education and their performance.
A child and their school life can be nurtured better if the communication between the parents and the teachers are strong as it is fundamental. This will foster the child’s sense of belongingness and also makes them feel that they are being noticed.
When the teacher is paying enough attention towards the student, they get to know how well the student is performing and where they are finding difficulties. They can make better decisions related to what learning styles suit the child the most and how that could be implemented along with their interests in order to maximise their potential.
The school environment as a whole seems to be a lot safer when there is a good communication loop between the child, the teachers, and parents. They can rectify the root cause of the child’s deviant behaviour or performance if there’s any. This can also be avoided when the parents are invested and involved in their child’s life, school and otherwise. When the parents and teachers are present, not only when the problem arises, the student would tend to be on the safer side so as to not end up in trouble later. Students helping each other in a respectful manner can also reduce the deviant behaviours of others and stop the problems from aggravating.
When the parents attend meetings in schools, they can learn more about their child and the others. The friends, the environment, and the teachers all together can be evaluated and analysed. This helps the parents know whether their ward is in a good and safe space or the other way round. These meetings could also be an opportunity for the parents to discuss the future possibilities and career options with their children. By doing so, the students feel safe and are ensured that their parents and teachers are actually looking out for them.
Parents directly getting involved in the happenings of the school might make the students think that their privacy is being invaded. Instead of this, the parents can have a conversation with their children and get to know through them and when they attend the parent teachers meeting at school through the teachers. Communicating well and listening to the children will make the bond and trust only grow and enhance. Knowing what happens in the children’s life outside the house in a very subtle manner is the way to get into their other part of the life. This makes the children want to share things to the parents as they feel good and safe.
To have a well maintained bond and relationship with the teachers and the parents in this current generation is important because the students are highly exposed to the outer world unlike how it was a couple of years ago. The evolution of mankind leads to innovations as well as other deviant behaviours which are more tempting than the positive ones. It is on the parents’ part that they show active participation in their child’s social life and personal life to make sure they have a healthy life going on. This does not mean that they can invade their privacy by using the parent card. To give their space and time is the key to gain their trust.
Parents and teachers, being the initial source of contact for any child, need to have good communication with the child and with each other. A good head start will give the student enough encouragement and guidance which is effective and in a positive manner.
